McLaren 12C GT Can-Am To See Limited Production Run !

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California has been the launch pad for many exotic, rare and desirable models, with car manufacturers eager to showcase their wares to the audience of one-percenter gearheads. At this year’s show, McLaren showed a one-off Can-Am Edition of its MP4-12C, and at the time said it was “only a concept.” Well, it received such a positive response from the show, that McLaren has committed to building a limited run of 30 track-ready cars.

Designed to be the “ultimate track car,” the McLaren MP4-12C Can-Am Edition will get an unrestricted version of the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 with 630 hp. Other than the hot engine, the 12C Can-Am Edition can be spotted by a large carbon-fiber rear wing, exterior mirrors, engine cover vents, radiator intake vanes and sill covers. To accent the carbon trim’s dark hue, the Can-Am Edition features black satin-finished wheels on Pirelli racing tires.

Its intent as a track toy is highlighted by a lightweight carbon-fiber dashboard, an FIA-approved race-spec rollcage, race seats with six-point harnesses, and a special race-spec steering wheel from the 12C GT3 race car. One concession to comfort is an integrated motorsports air conditioning system. If the Can-Am Edition sounds appealing to you, put in a call to your offshore banker now to wire $569,000 to your neighborhood McLaren dealer. Production on the 12C Can-Am Edition will begin in March 2013.
